He is no longer the kid in his family, thanks to his son. But Bobby Deol remains as affable as ever, even when it comes to controversies.
"I guess people won't accept that I'm no longer a kid. They still see me as the kid of the Deol family. But now my son has taken over all the family's affections," Bobby Deol told IANS.
In fact, it's his youthfulness that made Mani Ratnam ask Bobby to star in "Yuva". The price he quoted, however, sent the conservative Ratnam scampering to Ajay Devgan.
Bobby doesn't deny that he quoted his price. "But how was I to know it was too much for them? Money cannot be an issue with Mani. There was no discussion, no negotiation whatsoever.
"After the first meeting, I would have been happy to adjust in whatever way required. But the next thing I knew someone else had been signed.
"Yeah, I guess it's a loss and 'Yuva' would've probably worked well for my career. My last two films have flopped and before that I was missing from screen for a year. But I can't sit and cry over spilt milk. Instead, I'd want to make sure that I don't spill the milk again."
He admits that so far he has avoided multi-starrers. "Because there's too much insecurity on the sets from the other party and I can't handle it. However, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and I have fabulous roles in Anil Sharma's film. So much was written about Akshay playing my father.
"The fact is I play my own father in 'Ab Tumhare Hawale...' but it isn't really a double role because the small role of the father finishes before I come on to play the son.
**This should put an end to those silly rumors about who's playing the Father role!!!!
