This is definitely one of Anil Kapoor's hallmark films.. And Nassurdin Shah was not bad either!!! Padmini is forced to marry Nassurdin, and he's forced by his mother to marry her,as it's his mother's dying wish... On her wedding night Padmini tries to commit suicide, but as her new husband is a doctor, he's able to save her life...He then gets her to reveal why she's so unhappy, and he promises her he'll make it right, but on the condition that she stays married to him until his mother passes away. She tells him about how she met Anil when he comes to rent a room at her house...what an upstanding/honorable man he is, and how they fell in love, but her parents disapproved (this is all told in flashback, and takes about 3/4 of the film) Nassurdin, then goes about to find Anil to reunite the lovers...however in the end Anil will not even think of taking back Padmini, nor will Padmini allow her husband to remove her wedding necklace...Anil leaves and the couple begins their married life together!

This was my first time seeing it...BUT I had heard countless times what a benchmark film it was for Anil... I like Padmini Kholapure in her other works (Pyari Behena, Pyar Jutha Nahin )so that was my motivation to see it...I'm glad I did!!
*My next oldie to watch is LOAFER (Dharam, Mumtaz) and I'll do a review when I see it....
