Chaat Recipes?


There are number of various Desi Chaats.

Do you know to make a few? I just know how to make the paapri chaat with Alloo, chana, paapri, yogurt , imlee chutney, green chutney, etc.

How about some fruit chaats? Any good recipes?

Fruit Chaat



1 apple, 1 guava, 1 orange or sweetlime, 1/2 banana, 1/2 pomegranate, salt to taste, 1-2 tsp. chat masala, 1 tsp. lemon juice
Wash the fruits. Cut the apples, guava and banana in small cubes. Peel the orange/sweetlime. Cut the orange/sweetlime into two segments. Mix the apple, guava, banana, orange/sweetlime and pomegranate with the salt, chaat masala and the lime juice. Mix well and serve immediately.Recipe from Gayathri Venkataramani.

Although any preferred fruits can be used.This chaat is ideally made with the following fruits.
The following quaintity is for serving 4 people.

1 banana
1 apple
1 pear
2 guavas
1 peach
1 tangerine or orange
Handful of grapes
1 pomegranate(optional)
3-4 tbs sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp ground cumin(zeera)
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
few drops of lemon juice or orange juice


 


Instructions



Cut up all the fruit and put in a bowl. Add the sugar, cumin, lemon/orange juice, salt, zeera and black pepper. Mix well. Any type of fruit that is available in the season can be used.

Thanks ladies....but did you try to make these yourselves yet? I mean, I can get a lot of recipes of net, but I want a recipe that you already tried and know for sure that its good. Lets share some of your own recipes that you learnt yourselves along the way.

The last recipe is from a site I use for all of my indian recipes...however I can't say i have a personal recipe for it as I never heard of Chaat until you mentioned it...


I know about CHOW...hot marinated chopped up fruit ...mainly green mango, or oranges, or any tart fruit.........end up with a ringing in the ear, watering eyes, mouth on fire, but boy you just can't stop!!!!!!!!!!

Chaat..yum yum ymmy...


Here is a kewl recipe...

Ingredients :
APPLES
MANGOES
Bananas
pears
1 tbl spoon fruit masala
1/2 spoon salt
3 cups of Vanilla Ice Cream
......

Method..

step1 : slice the pears into wafer thin pieces and spread them out in a bowl
Step 2 : take the Vanila ICe cream and spread it out on the pear slices upto 1 cm thick....
Step 3...
Now take the Mango and mash up the slices into a puree.....
Step 4 ....
sprinkle the salt on the Mango Puree
Step 5.....
spread the Mango Puree on the Vanilla ice cream...
Step 6......
Take the apples and cut them into finely sliced wafers....
Step 7.....
Spread the apple wafers on the Mango Pureee....
Step 8........
now is the time to finalize the chaaat.....yooo yum yoooo ymm......




Add sliced pista badam and then a bit of butter scotch flavor....

VOILA....


U got the Kramerican Fruit Salad...ENJOYYYYYY
