Ash says the voice is not her – did she tape Salman?

The suspense of Bollywood lusty saga is on. Now Ash says to police that she is not sure that the female voice in the tape is her. According to experts she may be correct. She may have used a device to tape Salman voice only. If that is the case, (to make the whole thing sexy and story-like) the receiver of the tape may have added a Ash sound a-like’s voice to the tape. Now the question comes – who taped Salman? Was it Ash?

Ash breaks silence and provides first indication that Salman abused her as reported in tape – Police interrogates Salman

No answer is the best answer when you let the law take its course. "I''ve nothing to say about an association that ended for me a long time ago," says Aishwarya Rai, breaking her silence on a purported telephonic conversation with Salman Khan who reportedly said he knew underworld dons.

"I cannot comment on any of the content in the tape or the ensuing debate and discussion. The matter has been taken over by the law. Let the legal system take its course," Aishwarya told reporters.

According to legal think tanks, Ash’s answer says that she does not deny the tape. That is equivalent to saying the law may and can prove that tape is true.

Ash and Salman both connected to underworld or Ash a double agent? You got to sleep with them to come on top!

Ash may be in deep trouble unless she is a double agent!

According to the tape that revealed Ash and Salman using worst kind of abusive languages and referring to the underworld shows how the Bollywood really works. You got to sleep with them to come on top no matter who you are!

According to the tape Salman and Ash both knew that are being tapped by RAW and other Indian intelligence media because of Ash’s and Salman’s connection to underworld.

According to sources, Ash may be in deep trouble if the tape is true. Some are saying she was a double agent working for the Indian Government. Some are saying she was in total connection with the underworld and compromising with them to come on top of Bollywood.

A conversation that apparently took place four years ago has come back to haunt Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

Excerpts of a taped phone conversation between Salman and Aishwarya Rai were printed in English daily Hindustan Times today.

In the conversation, Salman can be heard bragging about his close ties with underworld criminals like Dawood Ibrahim and Abu Salem to threaten Aishwarya.

"I am connected with underworld. I know Abu Salem and Chhota Shakeel. I know Chhota Rajan. They will shoot you if they hear you talking to me like this," said the voice on the tape.

Part of probe

The conversation was apparently tapped four years ago by the police as part of their investigations into the links between the film industry and the underworld.

Salman's lawyers, however, have dismissed the tapes claiming they are doctored.

"This is not the voice of Salman Khan. If you hear the tape, you can make out it's not Salman," said Dipesh Mehta, the actor's lawyer.

What's also not clear is why the police didn't act against Salman if they had these tapes four years ago.

"It is very difficult to comment at this stage. We have to investigate the matter further," said Dhananjay Kamlakar, officer, Crime Branch.

The phone tapping dates back to the investigation into the Salman Khan film Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.

Storm stirred up

The police had tapped conversations between the financier of the film Bharat Shah and underworld don Chhota Shakeel. Salman was questioned at that time, but Shah and the film's producer were arrested.

More than the underworld links, what's stirred up a storm is the bit on the tape in which Salman is heard admitting that he knew about the Mumbai blasts.

"In the bomb blast, Sanjay Dutt wasn't involved. It was me. Sanjay had nothing to do with it. I had all the information about the blasts. I did what I had to do. Now I am getting calls from Salem," said the voice.

This provoked a strong reaction from the opposition for action against the actor.

"Why didn't the police carry out an enquiry even after they had the tape? How did they overlook the conversation in this tape," said BJP leader Gopinath Munde.

Meanwhile, both Salman and Aishwarya remained incommunicado throughout the day.

These telephone conversations between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were recorded between August 28-30, 2001. Ash was supposed to leave for a long tour of the US. Salman starts calling her on the eve of her departure.

The conversations start friendly enough, but rapidly degenerate into threats, boasts and abuse. Following are excerpts from the Salman Tapes:

Aishwarya Rai: Hello.

Salman Khan: I want you to do the Abu Salem show. Hello?

SK: When I told you to do the Salem show you put the phone down. F**k you. You are doing the Salem show because of me. I asked you to the Salem show. You are not talking to me.

Ash: F**k you.

SK: You f***ing bitch. Are you doing the Salem show or not? I want to know whether you are doing the Salem show or not?

Ash: Oh really, you got drunk.

SK: Are you doing the Salem show or not? Abu Salem show or not? Abu Salem show or not?

Ash: Your phone is tapped.

SK: You know my phone is tapped. I want to save my own ass, you f***ing b***h. I would like to know whether you are doing the show or not.

Ash: Salman.

SK: No, tell me, you f***ing b***h whether you are doing the Salem show or not.

Ash: You're too late.

SK: You know Chori Chori Chupke Chupke? I was the only one who knew it was a Chhota Shakeel film.

Ash: Listen, listen. Now stop it, Salman.

SK: I will call up Salem and compromise. You don't know anything that is happening. It is a big bad world. You don't know the connectivity (sic) of the underworld.

No listen to me. Chori Chori Chupke Chupke was a Chhota Shakeel film. I was the only one who knew. Not even Nadeem Rizvi or Bharat Shah.

I did this role because I was scared of Chhota Shakeel... (Shakeel said) Yeh Mussalman aadmi hamara Hindustan ko agey lekar jayega. So I did Chhota Shakeel's film and that is what I had to do.

Ab mujhe Salem Saheb ke phone aa rahe hain.

Ab aap ke mere relationship hain. Jaise Dawood Bhai mere bade bhai ke relationship hain. Chhota Shakeel ka mere relationship hain. To aap ka hoga. We are hand in glove.

Ash: Hello?

SK: Abi aap ne disconnect nahin kiya. Itna information ley liya phone pe.

Ash: Hello?

Kyonke main underworld se taluk rakta hoon... mujhse contact nahin rakna? (They get disconnected)

SK: Phone nahin rakha. Mere liye point prove karne ke liye. Ha. Tum ne kabhi Salem se baat nahin kiya?

Ash. RAW hain jo mere conversation sun reha hain.

Dawood Ibrahim kuch nahin hai. Salem kuch nahin hain. Chhota Shakeel kuch nahin. Jo bhi hain woh main hoon.

Yeh muje malum hain ki Ash ka phone tapped hain. Is liye disconnect ho gaya. Muje malum hain mera phone tapped hain. Ash law abiding citizen hain. Unhone London airport mein phone guma diya. Kyonke main underworld se taluk rakta hoon. To mujse contact nahin rakna?

Ash: Ho Ho.

SK: You are trying to pretend you don't have to do anything with me. Suno mere bhai suno. Salman Khan, don't you dare...

Ash: Yeah?

SK: You had a problem. You call me up.

Ash: I called you up because I had a problem. SK: You never call me up otherwise. Anyway Ashji. You are going to be there for 47 days. Ok, 47 days my guys are there. They will watch what you do there like the last trip.

Ash: Salman Khan, don't you dare.

SK: Don't you dare f**k with me, Ash. I know Abu Salem, Chhota Shakeel, Dawood Ibrahim, Guru Satam...

SK: Underworld people call me up here. I am their main man in Bombay. I do all that s**t.

Ash: Stop it. Don't talk nonsense. You can get into trouble.

Ash: Ok, Christ.

SK: F**k you. F**k you. Don't use that language towards me.

Ash: Stop it.

SK: You use abusive language against me.

I know Abu Salem, Chhota Shakeel and I know Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan. I know Guru Satam and all these underworld people.

If I say ,"Aisi r***i ne mujhse aise baat ki", they will shoot you. Pehle baap ko maro m*******d, phir bhai ko maro, phir isko maro. Pehle pao pe maro, phir thigh pe maro, phir haat pe maro.

I have the power to do that. You know I can do that. It is a fact, it is a fact

SK: Because of my connection with the underworld Abu Salem will speak to you. I know all the people.

Ash: Salman Khan, stop all this rubbish. What is this?

Sk: It is a fact, it is a fact.     If anyone of you want to hear their conversation, download the below file.

Salman Khan

The raging controversy over the alleged threats issued by actor Salman Khan in 2001 to his then heartthrob, actress Aishwarya Rai, the tapes of which are making the rounds now, has taken a new turn with Salman flatly denying that the voices belong to either him or to Aishwarya.

In his first interview after the outbreak of the controversy, Salman said that he heard the tapes several times and could not recognise his own voice.

He also categorically stated that the voice at the other end was not Aishwarya's. Roundly rubbishing the charge that he was linked to Abu Salem and the underworld, he pointed out that he was, in fact, a victim of the underworld who was given police protection. Excerpts from an interview:

Q: What is your response to the controversy raging across the country over the tapes?

A: This is the second time I am being put in the dock by the media without even bothering to get my side of the story. In 2003 when a road accident case was slapped on me, the media declared me guilty. But our judicial system, in which I have immense faith, is giving me a fair trial. Now again I am being crucified for no fault of mine.

Q: But did you abuse Aishwarya over the phone and compel her to take part in Abu Salem's show?

A: Frankly, my initial response on reading media reports and hearing the television channels was one of shock. The media is desperately looking for sensational stories to sell itself in a competitive market, and I was the convenient fall guy. A particular TV channel targeted me because I was among the first to openly come out in defence of actor Aman Verma who was sought to be victimised through a so-called sting operation by it.

Q: Do you recall having the conversation with Aishwarya?

A: Look, the tape is of 2001 vintage. I do not recall any such c o nve r s a - tion. Will you recall a conversation you had with somebody four years ago? This whole thing is so absurd. I heard the tape and I could not recognise my own voice. The voice obviously belongs to a drunken man. The voice attributed to Ash is also most certainly not hers. I believe the cops also feel that the voice is not mine.

Q: In 2001 you were madly in love with Aishwarya. Is it possible that you actually uttered those words?

A: Yes, I was mad about her...almost in a suicidal way. But I did not threaten her to do any show. Assuming for a moment that the voice is indeed mine, what does it prove? Are the threats backed by any action? Did Ash do any show for Abu Salem? Somebody might claim tomorrow that he is the president of America. Does that make him the president? There is no legal or ethical basis for prosecuting me. But I am saddened by the liberal use of four-letter words by the media. What are they teaching children?

Q: Did you ever have any links with the underworld in general and with Abu Salem in particular?

A: This is the most absurd charge anyone could level against me. I am actually a victim of the underworld. I have been threatened by Abu Salem. The cops heard the threats and decided that I should have police security, which I had till the accident in Bandra. I now have private security. But I can handle these threats. I am capable of that. How can I be the underworld's pointsman in Bollywood? A victim of the underworld is its pointsman? It must be a sick joke.

Q: Is it true that you had advance information about the Mumbai bomb blasts of 1993?

A: This is a ridiculous accusation. The bomb blasts were thoroughly investigated by the Mumbai police and the CBI. The testimonies of hundreds of people were recorded, and a mass of evidence was put together by these investigative agencies. Not once did my name crop up. If my name did figure in the investigations I would have been arrested long back. I find this charge particularly painful. I have never played a bad character in any film. I believe in my loving my family, my friends and my country. I am as much a Hindustani as anyone else. How can I be labelled a deshdrohi?

Q: Have you been questioned by the cops after the latest controversy?

A: No. But I have always cooperated with the cops. What I don't understand is this campaign against my film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya. Apart from me, Sushmita Sena, David Dhawan and others are involved in this film. Three thousand families are dependent on the success of this film. Why is it being targetted?

Q: Do you suspect that your rivals have raised this controversy to ensure that the film does not make it big at the box-office? Also, do you think you are being targetted by BJP agitators because you are a Muslim?

A: I don't want to get into all this. I have no enemies in the industry. I have only helped people and never harmed anyone. As for politics, I don't understand it.
