Aishwarya Rai is painting Cannes red! In a first for an Indian actress, Ash delivered the festival's inaugural speech along with Alexander Payne, the director of the Oscar-winning film, Sideways.

She attended the opening night of the Cannes Film Festival 2005 on May 11 looking absolutely gorgeous in a black evening gown.

This is Ash's fourth year at the prestigious film festival. Ash poses with French former Victoria's Secret model and actress Laetitia Casta. Casta also has a brown belt in Judo. The two stunning ladies shared the red carpet last year as well, when Ash stopped over at Cannes for a day.

Nandita Das has a big job at the 58th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

She is one of the nine members of the jury that will choose the film to win the top prize at the festival: the Palme d'Or. This year has 21 feature films in the running for the award.

Nandita is the second Indian actor -- after Aishwarya Rai, who inaugurated the festival on Wednesday -- to serve as a jury member at Cannes. Nandita was accompanied by her husband, Soumya Sen, wearing a smart black bandhgala suit.
