The United Nations Children's Emergency Fund welcomed Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan as its International Goodwill Ambassador.


Amitabh signed a formal letter with UNICEF Executive Director Carol Bellamy on Thursday evening.


"I am thrilled to be named Goodwill Ambassador; this is a great honour for me," Amitabh said. He said he hoped he would be able to make a difference in children's lives.
