Seven months of hard work and tough competition against hundreds of contestants finally saw Abhijeet being crowned the best.
Abhijeet's father Sridhar Sawant (left) received various proposals for his successful son, including a proposal to organise a cricket tournament in Abhijeet's name! Sridhar kept calm and did not make any promises, repeatedly replying, "Let Abhijeet come home."
The desperation of when the local star would arrive was growing heavier by the moment. Even his father wasn't sure when he would come home. "Abhijeet has made us and Maharashtra famous," declared Sridhar.
"This competition was a sort of all-India level election, where the voters voted by spending their own money!" he added, referring to the SMS charges.
"This is unbelievable!" exclaims his mother Manisha. "Sometimes I feel I am dreaming that my son has become famous overnight! Since childhood, Abhijeet was our favourite during Antakshari. Now, he has become India's favourite! Girls, grandfathers, middle-aged men... they all want to meet Abhijeet and wanted him to win. Wherever I go, I am known as Abhijeet's mom."

Madhuri Dixit-Nene gave birth to her second son on March 8, in Denver, Colorado, USA.
Dixit's first-born Arin is two years old, and also a March born child. He was born on March 18.
Madhuri had said she wanted her second child to be a girl, but the actress is quite happy being the mother of another boy.
The actress had opted out of two films just before she discovered she was pregnant for the second time, including Somnath Sen's film starring Amitabh Bachchan, and Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Bengali film, Kaalpurush, a role which later went to Sameera Reddy.
Madhuri's secretary Rikku says, "Both mother and son are hale and hearty."
