And now for real much awaited info. And it pertains to Karan Johar's forthcoming film, which Karan will direct himself.
There's tremendous speculation about Karan's forthcoming film. More than a month ago, Karan had divulged to this writer that he had commenced scripting his next, a period film. However, Karan was still undecided about the cast of the film. But the cat is out of the bag now... The film will star two of the finest talents of the country -- SRK and Ajay Devgan.
[In fact, this is the second time SRK and Ajay have been teamed for a film project. Rakesh Roshan had signed them in the 1990s for KAYNAAT. But when Ajay opted out of the project, Roshan Sr. signed Salman for the said role and also changed the title to KARAN-ARJUN].
Karan merely smiles when this writer requests for a confirmation. "I am not confirming or denying anything right now. Await the official announcement," is all that he says. But Karan does talk about the project in general.
Is the film titled KALANK?
Karan has a hearty laugh as he clarifies this. "It's true that I have registered the title, but that is not the title of my new film. In fact, I keep registering titles that begin with the alphabet 'K', so I presume people may have felt that KALANK is the title of the film since I registered it only recently. In fact, a title like KALANK would suit a Prakash Jha film, more than mine. Anyways, I am still searching for the right title," he says.
Set in the 1940s, the film is expected to take the viewers by surprise. "People will be shocked when they watch the film. For someone who has attempted films like K2H2 and K3G, this new film is sure to catch them unaware. It's daringly different from my earlier films," he divulges.
So when will the project take off? "I am still scripting the film. But I hope to start filming in December this year and release it by Diwali next year," he states.
