A lot has been talked about Vivek Oberoi's generosity and about his willingness to help all those in dire need. While some have supported his magnanimous act, others have condemned it as yet 'another act to gain attention'.
The killer Tsunami wave claimed hundreds of lives and destroyed thousands of homes on India's coastline in December last year. Vivek quickly swarmed to action and before anybody knew, he was there at the devastated area, helping people build their homes again! One such little kid that he helped fight back death is a nine-year-old boy Haji Ali.
Haji Ali was diagnosed with a heart complication ever since his birth. The doctors had told his father Abdul Razzak that an operation would cost about Rs.1, 00,000 - an unimaginable amount for Abdul who is only a fisherman.
When Vivek went to the small south Indian village of Devanapattinam, Abdul decided to approach him. Vivek on the other hand promised to help them and also kept his word when he moved him to Apollo hospital in Chennai where Ali went through an open-heart surgery to close the hole in his heart. And needless to say, the medical bills were taken care of!
Thanks to Vivek, Ali is recovering and will soon be on his way to pursue his dream - To become a doctor! Can we have more Vivek Oberoi's please?!
